"You can't edit a blank page", I was once told. You need to start writing something if you want to be a writer. You need not be harsh on yourself when you see your first draft. The rough sketch will hopefully sow the seeds for better things to come. I was thinking along these lines when I wrote 'A Blank Page'. I see that poem as the sand paper that will clear the rust and grime that has accumulated over the years.

A Blank Page
Blank Page -
Stiff and cold
As the weather in the Midwest
Stares at you
Gives you the chills
Dares you
To write a word
You stare back
Try and take the plunge
Blank Page -
Stiff and White
As the snow in Cleveland
Paralyses you
Slows you down
Dares you
To write another
You try and move
Hoping you don’t slip
Freeze
Skid
Blank page -
Stiff and crumpled
As it rolls towards the wpb
Stares at you
From under the table
Having had
Its last laugh
