IF: Visitors (also my first en plein air painting)

This is the first painting I completed outdoors. It is a 12X18 inches acrylic on canvas painted at the Tree House in the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, Cleveland.
I feel at peace when I am here. Apart from nature lovers, frequent visitors who come to this tree house are, downy woodpeckers, robins, cedar waxwings, cardinals and a host of other beautiful birds.

Illustration Friday: Jungle

This painting is a work in progress. I started this last year. Do not know when I shall finish it.

First fall painting

This is the first painting I painted in the first year of my being in the United States (4 years ago). Also, this is my first "big" painting. I had never before attempted anything on 24X36 inches canvas. I found the process very daunting and the end result not very satisfying. I look forward to hearing suggestions for improvement from you. Thank you.

Mahabalipuram

This is a small (11X14) acrylic on paper done in 2001. If I painted this today it would look very different - not only because the tsunami has forced some changes to the landscaping in the area adjacent to the temple, but because I think there are some shortcomings (for instance, in use of colour) in the painting that I would probably try to overcome. It would be great if you could comment on what could be done differently to improve the painting. Awaiting your feedback.

(I am sorry that this is the best photograph I can come up with for now. Light reflected from the glass behind which the painting is is a distraction.)

Spring Paintings

A couple of my friends got married in the past few months and I wanted to gift them paintings. Being lazy, I decided to paint three versions of the same painting. The advantage of having different versions of the same is that one can experiment with techniques and composition and see what pleases the eye best.

Now, I have a request: Could you try and rank the versions based on your preference? Through your honest feedback I would love to see what works best. If time permits, also explain why you prefer one over the other. Based on the results I will paint the same painting in a bigger canvas. Ready to vote?

Sunset in California

Well, actually the scenery that I saw and photographed did not involve a sunset but I just painted the same place to look like the sun had set.

P.S: Forgot to mention that my sister's input went into the creation of the sky in here!
