Illustration Friday: Dance


This charcoal sketch is based on my photograph of a stone carving in one of the Hoysala temples at Belur/Halebeedu (unfortunately I am not able to recall the exact location) in Karnataka, India.

This is very beautiful! I looked at your photos...those are beautiful as well. I love how you've created a very ancient look with the texture of the charcoal.

Agreed. I like the texture. The way you've suggested all that detail is very effective. At the same time, you've kept the focus on the figure. Nice work!

Wow! Its always amazes me how an artist can use a piece of charcoal to create something so beautiful. Very nice work! But I felt that the face needed a little something more. I don't know exactly what. :)
