Sunset in California

Well, actually the scenery that I saw and photographed did not involve a sunset but I just painted the same place to look like the sun had set.

P.S: Forgot to mention that my sister's input went into the creation of the sky in here!

Beautiful color. I like the shape of the tree and how the shapes of color that make up the sky. You'll have to let me know next time you're in California, as that's where I am.

Mad Guru,
Thank you, I will definitely let you know when I come down next.
Diana,
Thank you.
Suji,
Thank you, I liked the shape of the original tree a lot - the curve of it's trunk and the myriad branches.

Thanks for your comments on my blog by the way. I was just wondering after looking at your work, whether you feel you have a style and how it developed? Was it a conscious thing for you?

Tammy Hanna and Liz Jones,
Thanks for your comments.

Tammy Hanna,
Let me attempt to answer your question: I do not really know if I have a style that is discernible as entirely mine. I have certainly not consciously been trying to develop a certain style. However, I do find that I am inclined to use certain equipments and material. These choices, coupled with my favourite subjects and themes invariably leave their mark in whatever I do. I am not sure if I have made myself clear. Also, I am self-taught so I do not quite have the vocabulary to write more on this for now. Will definitely attempt a narrative on this issue of style development later.
It was very interesting to read your instructor's views and your thoughts on those views in your blog!

Thanks for replying Arvindh, it makes a lot of sense. I'm also very encouraged by the fact that you're self-taught, your work is great. You've expressed yourself clearly and honestly, and that's all that's needed, I'll take that over fancy art language any day!!

Hi Arvindh:

Thanks for stopping by at my blog. Your artworks are awesome! I read about your previous article about 65B and it reminded me about the good old days when I used to travel in the pallavan buses. Nice work!

pink hippo, String, vanathi, Meghjanmi, Sattvic and Tammy hanna,

Thank you all for your comments and appreciation.

Sattvic,
Great that you had the good old Pallavan experience - you would have appreciated the article better than someone who had not gone through that.

Your Sunset in California, is a long dark lonely walk and I wish I were there right now, truly beautiful thing. I was looking at some of your other paintings, the butterscotch color is wonderful!

Thanks for the comment on my site.
I do nearly everything digitally, digital paint brush. Original always. The little peice you asked about Sprung Spring and Other Things, is unusual in that the original colors are; blue horses, red background, goldish spring, I felt, not sure why, I didn't think it should be those colors, it already was quite three dimensional, so I used two effects, sepia tone, and topography, liked it.

Wow. Fiery! The colors are astounding. And that tree--it almost looks like the tree is taken aback by the profundity of this particular sunset . . . . Nice work.

Thank you. I have gifted this painting to a friend. And yes, I have signed it - just that it got cropped in the photograph!

What is it about Red? NO wonder some cultures believe it is the colour of life/chi. I have seen some moving work this week. It really lends to landscapes. I really like your piece. Puts me into the image. I can imagine having walked down that road at some point.
